6-Night Timelapse & Photography Workshop + Total Solar Eclipse

DATE:           AUGUST 18 - AUGUST 24, 2017

LOCATION:  PINEDALE & JACKSON, WYOMING

This is going to be a very special photography and timelapse workshop that combines the stunning and majestic scenery of the Grand Tetons with the first total solar eclipse in the continental U.S. in 38 years.

Along with the amazing landscapes and vistas, you'll be learning how to create professional quality time-lapses and photographs through classroom sessions and hands-on instruction out in the field.

You'll learn why, when and how to create realistic HDR photographs and time-lapse, how to capture night-sky images that reveal light and color the human eye cannot see, how to stack images for noise control, and how to capture & process high definition timelapses using Adobe Lightroom and LRTimelapse.

In the middle of our workshop (August 21) is the Solar Eclipse, and we'll be under the path of totality, giving you an experience you'll never forget.   You'll learn how to best capture the eclipse, and we'll have solar glasses on hand for you to enjoy the show with your own eyes.

Total Solar Eclipse

I decided to host our fall workshop this year at Grand Teton National Park. This location has been high on my list for a couple of years, but I wanted to wait until the date of the solar eclipse since the Tetons are directly in the path of the eclipse on Monday morning August 21, 2017.    This is the first total solar eclipse in the U.S. in 38 years and there will not be another one in this part of the country in our lifetime.

New Moon

Yes, in order to have a total solar eclipse it will have to be a new moon - but when will you ever have the opportunity to capture a total solar eclipse during the day and be under the darkest skies anywhere at night with the Grand Tetons as your foreground.   Wyoming provides this for us this year!!!!

Lodging

Our home base for the workshop will be at the Hampton Inn & Suites in Pinedale, Wyoming.  Pinedale is located just 15 minutes from the darkest skies you have ever seen and is 90 minutes to Grand Teton National Park.   We'll spend a few days up at Grand Tetons and another day or two closer to Pinedale.  Pinedale is home to one of the most magnificent mountain ranges - the Wind Rivers - and over 1,300 names lakes within the Wind River Range.  See description in the right-column for more information about the Wind River Mountain Range.

Since this area is in the direct path of the total solar eclipse, all hotels are sold out (many as early as 3 years ago).  If you can find a room anywhere near the path of the eclipse you'll be expected to pay over $800 / night for a motel room in the days ahead of and just after the eclipse.

When you register for this Wyoming workshop we will provide you with the information needed for you to reserve one of the king suites that we have held for workshop participants.  The hotel is otherwise sold out.

Intimate Classes with a Focus on You!

We have very limited space for this workshop in order to keep this an intimate learning experience. Our low teacher / student ratio ensures that each photographer receives personal attention throughout the workshop.

Cancellations & Travel Insurance

Due to the virtually non-existant hotel availability around the dates of the Total Solar Eclipse all workshop registrations are final.  We cannot honor refunds at any point for this workshop.   Once sold out we can try to find a replacement for your spot, but only then will we offer a refund.

We recommend that participants obtain travel / trip cancellation insurance to cover any unforeseen circumstances that require the cancellation of the workshop or your participation in the workshop.   Please refer to our terms & conditions.

Registration & Payment

Registration for our 5-Day, 6-Night workshop is $2499  A 50% desposit ($1249.50) will reserve your spot in the workshop.  The remaining balance will be due no later than June 30th, 2017.   Space is limited to just 10 photographers. Currently there are only two spots available. Early registration is highly recommended to guarantee a room at the hotel.

Grand Teton National Park - Jackson, WY

Rising above a scene rich with extraordinary wildlife, pristine lakes, and alpine terrain, the Teton Range stands monument to the people who fought to protect it. These are mountains of the imagination. Mountains that led to the creation of Grand Teton National Park where you can explore over two hundred miles of trails, float the Snake River or enjoy the serenity of this remarkable place.

The Teton range is majestic as the peaks stand nearly 7,000 feet above the valley floor.   The peaks rise into alpine meadows flocked with wildflowers, then past crystal blue & white glaciers until the reach the granite pinnacles above.    The Tetons are made up of the Grand, Middle, and South Tetons - and Mount Owen, Teewinot Mountain, and Mount Moran, nearby are no less spectacular.
